The guide, Dante, was very professional, and the boat was in perfect condition for fishing. I highly recommend this trip.

However, the overall trip did not match what was advertised. I had specifically expected a progressive drift where we would float new sections of river each day with camp set up ahead. Instead, we stayed at the same campsite about 45 minutes from San Carlos de Bariloche for all four nights. The site itself was quite close to a main road, so it didn’t feel particularly remote or peaceful.
We also ended up drifting the same section of the Río Limay twice, and on one day we drove back to within five minutes of town to start the float. This made the experience feel more like a series of day trips rather than a true multi-day wilderness float.
Fishing conditions were tough, which I understand can happen. The first day was good with a couple of solid rainbows and a brown, but the following days were very slow—only one fish per day on two days, plus a few small fish on another. Repeating water likely didn’t help.
Overall, while the scenery was beautiful and the people were great, the trip was underwhelming and did not meet expectations for the price. Given the experience, I would probably opt for a quality day trip out of Bariloche next time rather than a multi-day.

of the Lamay River and I lost count how many rainbows were caught. Renzo is an excellent guide, good English and cooked a luxurious steak barbecue for lunch. Lucas, the Bariloche Captain, has perfect English and is very attentive.

Our goals were to fish while visiting with family in Patagonia and staying in Bariloche. We couldn't fish consecutive days, so Lucas and the Southern Rivers team did a phenomenal job of working with us to plan multiple locations and days around our commitments. We particularly appreciated the team's attention to detail in making their recommendations for where and when we fish to maximize success.
We fished three separate days on Rio Limay, Rio Manso, and Lago Hess with our guide, Dante. We cannot recommend Dante enough, he is an excellent guide. He was patient and skilled at putting us on fish. Each day we had phenomenal opportunities at huge trout on dries and streamers. Each location was unique and fished differently.
Gear (waders, boots, rods, flies, etc.) was included and of excellent quality. The fly line and rod pairings, in particular, felt excellent.
Finally, I don't normally consider food when booking fly fishing trips, but the lunches included in the trip were so excellent they require a mention. Each day we would stop for lunch and cook a full meal on a gas grill, with dessert! The meals were unexpectedly lavish and excellent.
We will fish with Southern Rivers again when we return to Bariloche.
